General Description: The Cafeteria Assistant Manager directs and participates in all food service operations in the assigned school according to federal, state and local policies.
Essential Responsibilities:

Supervises and/or performs the duties of cafeteria workers

Fills the manager role in the manager’s absence

Assists in preparing and serving meals that have been planned to meet the nutritional needs of students

Supervises and assists in the preparation and cooking of food to ensure proper temperature, palatability, and appearance of food

Promotes the educational aspects of the program to students, teachers, and the community
-
Works with the manager in determining amounts of food and supplies to be purchased and checking delivery for accuracy

Instructs employees in the use and care of equipment

Maintains high sanitary and safety standards in preparation, serving, and storing food
-
Prepares and maintains food service records at the manager’s direction
-
Performs related duties as required or assigned
Required Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or GED
-
ServSafe Certification
-
Successful experience in large capacity food service
Preferred Qualifications:

Formal training in Food Service

Employee must be able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds

Regular contact with students and other staff is required

Employee must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality

Sitting, standing, and walking may be required for extended periods of time

Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching may be needed to perform some duties

Employees are frequently exposed to extreme heat and cold; moving mechanical parts; fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises

Requires employee to regularly stand; sit; walk; use hands to handle, feel objects, tools, equipment or controls; reach with hands and arms

Verbal communication and hearing may be required for expressing or exchanging information

Employees must adhere to all site safety regulations

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus

Use of computer or other device screens is necessary
Annual Salary Range:
$23,174 - $47,054
This is a 183 day position/7 hr per day position.
