Position Overview
Service Technicians are responsible for the servicing of residential and commercial Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Systems. Be able to perform Quarterly's, Bi-Annual, Annual and 5-year Sprinkler Inspections. Also be able to understand and Service Fire Alarms, as well as Sprinkler Systems.
Responsibilities
- Establishing positive working relationships with employee’s, clients and other trades on site.
- Maintaining communication with office and client to facilitate a successful project.
- Understanding and following all project plans, designs, and specifications.
- Installing wiring and devices per project plan.
- Capable of bending and installing EMT conduit.
- Delivering the installation/service project on time and within budget.
- Troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and resolving them.
- Maintaining and effectively documenting records of time, material, scope of work completed/remaining, and as-built plans.
- Completing all job paperwork and reporting in a timely manner.
- Testing and evaluating fire alarm systems at customer locations.
- Performing quarterly and annual Fire Alarm and Sprinkler inspections.
- 5-Year Sprinkler Inspections
- Maintaining vehicle inventory, vehicle maintenance as well as keep vehicle clean.
- Document and communicate any process improvement recommendations to the Field to Service supervisor and or Manager.
- Communicate all feedback about inspections, processes, customer interactions, supervisors, and fellow employees through pre-established channels.
- Complete initial and continuing education/training classes within required time frames.
- Stay abreast of code and product changes through available training resources.
- Ensure professional appearance and respectful interactions with all customers, staff, and general public.
Competencies:
- Ladder experience and safety protocol.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Proficient in power tool usage.
- Good record keeping and tracking of facilities inspections.
- Professional appearance.
- “Can Do” attitude is a must!
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk and climb stairs for eight hours or more during each shift.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
Employment Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of installing or servicing electronic security and fire alarm systems.
- Has a basic knowledge of electrical wiring, electrical theory, and construction.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be organized and detail-oriented.
- Must have a valid driver's license and good DMV record.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen (excluding cannabinoids), and investigative background check.
- Must be physically able to operate hand and power tools, climb ladders, etc.
- California Life Safety Technician Card (Blue Card)
- California Sprinklers Card
- 4+ years fire alarm / Sprinkler service experience.

Preferred But Not Required Skills:
- Understanding of computers and computer software (Microsoft Office).
- Experience in reading architectural plans/schematics.
- HVAC experience.
- Construction/minor electrical background.
