Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong oral health.
- Assist the dentist during examinations, procedures, and treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Review documentation, medical records, and treatment plans to ensure accuracy and completeness for seamless patient care.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Dentrix Ascend for charting and documentation.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and medical coding practices for accurate documentation.
