Overview:
Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for our 3 East IMC Unit in Virginia Beach, VA!
Schedules available: Schedule includes every 3rd weekend shift rotation.
Full-Time Days (Three 12-hour shifts 7am to 7pm)
Full Time Nights (Three 12-hour shifts 7pm to 7am)
Part Time Days (Two 12-hour shifts)
Part Time Nights (Two 12-hour shifts)
3 East IMC is a fast-paced, 33-bed intermediate care step-down unit specializing in the care and stabilization of high-acuity surgical and medical patients, including respiratory, trauma, neuro, orthopedics, and cardiac cases. As part of a Level III Trauma Center and a Magnet® recognized hospital, our unit offers an exceptional environment for both experienced healthcare professionals and those at the start of their careers. Patient Care Technicians (PCT) can expect a ratio of 1:12, with all team members playing a pivotal, respected role in patient care. The unit is guided by an ACE award-winning leadership team, well known for fostering growth, teamwork, and professional development.
The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.
Education:
HS – High School Grad or Equivalent
One of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
