Overview
We are looking for an experienced Master Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team. This is a hands-on position for a highly skilled mechanic who can diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment, diesel trucks, trailers, and support vehicles.
We are looking for more than someone who can replace parts. We need a problem solver who can diagnose the root cause of a failure, determine the correct repair, and get equipment safely back into service with minimal downtime.
Duties
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment and fleet vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, brakes, steering, and suspension systems.
- Use diagnostic software, scan tools, test equipment, hydraulic schematics, and electrical schematics.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, hoses, and controls.
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections.
- Diagnose equipment failures and determine the root cause.
- Perform field repairs and emergency breakdown service when required.
- Work on excavators, loaders, skid steers, lifts, compactors, attachments, and other construction equipment.
- Maintain and repair trucks, trailers, service vehicles, and other fleet equipment.
- Communicate repair findings and recommendations to the Shop Manager.
- Assist with difficult or recurring equipment problems.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work area.
- Follow company safety policies and manufacturer recommendations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a heavy equipment, diesel, or fleet mechanic preferred.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and heavy equipment.
- Strong hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience.
- Strong electrical and electrical diagnostic experience.
- Experience working on construction equipment and fleet vehicles.
- Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Ability to use diagnostic software and scan tools.
- Ability to diagnose problems independently and determine the proper repair.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance.
- Ability to perform field repairs when equipment breaks down.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple repairs in a busy fleet environment.
- Safety-first mindset.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must be available to work Saturdays as needed based on business and fleet maintenance needs.
The ideal candidate takes ownership and pride in their work. You should be able to walk up to a piece of equipment that is down, troubleshoot the system, identify the problem, explain the repair needed, and get the machine back to work safely and correctly.
We want someone who can become ago-to mechanic for the shop and help develop the skills of the mechanics around them.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
