About the Role
Fewing Construction LLC is a Seattle-based residential general contractor specializing in kitchen and bath remodels, finish carpentry, flooring, insulation, door installation, and fireplace inserts. We're looking for a carpenter who wants to learn the trade properly: hands-on, under direct supervision, on real renovation projects across the Seattle area. This is a path toward journeyman-level carpentry, not just a labor job.
What You'll Do
- Work alongside our general contractor and field crew on residential remodel projects: kitchens, bathrooms, finish carpentry, flooring, and trim
- Learn to read plans, take accurate measurements, and execute cuts and installs to spec
- Assist with material handling, site prep, cleanup, and job site organization
- Operate hand and power tools safely under supervision, building toward independent use
- Support installation of doors, cabinetry, fireplace inserts, and insulation
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site in compliance with OSHA and L&I standards
- Show up on time, communicate clearly, and take feedback well; this matters as much as tool skills
What We're Looking For
- 2 - 3 years of prior job site experience (framing, finish work, general labor)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation to job sites around the Seattle metro area
- Basic math skills (measurements, fractions, angles) and comfort reading a tape measure
- Physical ability to lift 100+ lbs, stand/kneel for extended periods, and work on ladders and scaffolding
- Come equipped with your own basic hand tools (tape measure, hammer, level, utility knife, chalk line, speed square); we provide power tools and heavy equipment
- A genuine interest in learning the carpentry trade; prior construction or trade school exposure is a plus but not required
- Punctual, coachable, and a team player; small crews mean everyone's contribution shows
Nice to Have
- Prior carpentry experience
- Enrollment in or completion of a trade school / pre-apprenticeship program
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools (drills, saws, levels)
Pay: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour
