Metropolitan State Hospital is located in the City of Norwalk.
DSH-Metropolitan is accepting applications for Senior Psychiatric Technician (Safety), Permanent/Fulltime. Working Title: Senior Psychiatric Technician (Safety), Program V.
Program V is seeking highly motivated candidates for the position of Senior Psychiatric Technician (Safety). Under the general supervision of the Unit Supervisor (US) or Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN), incumbents administer care to forensic patients; assist in planning and evaluation of nursing care; provide a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care and are expected to facilitate the rehabilitation of forensic clients and patients. Incumbents may also be responsible for directing the work of other employees during an eight-hour shift of an organized nursing unit, and for relieving the US or SRN as required. Candidates must have excellent organization skills, ability to problem solve, and have good communication skills. Experience with computer systems is desired. Qualities sought are the ability to work well with others, good mediation skills, and a committment to providing good leadership and direction.
Candidates must be willing to work in any Unit/Program and any shift to meet the needs of the facility.
Training Expectations:
If selected, it is mandatory that you attend New Employee Orientation (NEO) in its entirety. NEO can be scheduled Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. for up to 30 days for level of care staff (clinical).

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the BVNPTE. and One year of experience performing the duties of a Psychiatric Technician (Safety) or Psychiatric Technician in a California State hospital or developmental center.
