Title: Electrical Engineer
Job Description:
As an Electrical Engineer at MM Metals USA, you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of electrical systems and components for our project and ongoing operations. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and compliance of all electrical systems and more specifically high voltage and current power supply systems to the direct current plasma arc furnace, while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical System Design:
Create, develop and evaluate electrical system designs, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to seamlessly integrate electrical systems into overall project designs.
Ensure that all electrical designs comply with local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
2. Testing and Fault Finding:
Conduct thorough testing to validate the functionality and performance of electrical
systems,
Identify and troubleshoot any issues or defects within the electrical designs.
Collaborate with equipment suppliers and commissioning / test engineers to develop and execute comprehensive testing plans.
3. Project Management:
Manage the electrical aspects of the Ferrochrome project (and other future projects), including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams to ensure successful project completion.
Maintain accurate and organized project documentation.
4. Continuous Improvement:
Stay current with the latest advancements in electrical engineering technologies and practices in general, and more specifically, staying abreast of the latest developments in direct current furnace power supply systems, requiring specialised skills and extensive experience in medium / high voltage / current as well as AC / DC conversion and thyristor rectification systems.
Identify opportunities for process enhancement and implement best practices.
Mentor and provide support to junior engineers and team members.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as mechanical engineers, C&I / software engineers, process engineers / metallurgists and project managers.
Effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborate with external vendors and contractors as necessary.
6. Additional Requirement:
Extensive evaluation of the design, manufacturing and routine testing techniques of power / distribution transformers, power electric cables, medium voltage (MV) metal-enclosed switchgear & control gear systems, high voltage (HV) switchgear, low voltage (LV) switchgear & control gear assemblies and accessories as pertaining to all the major equipment at MM Metals USA plant site.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE). License to work in the state of Pennsylvania is a plus.
Proven experience in electrical system design, development, fault-finding and testing.
Proficiency in CAD software and electrical design tools.
Strong knowledge of local and national electrical codes and regulations.
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Capability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and commitment to ensuring the highest quality work.
Pay: $50.00 - $58.00 per hour
