Certified Arborist / Sales Representative

Full-Time | $85,000 Base Salary + Commission
Ethical Tree Services is looking for an experienced Certified Arborist / Sales Representative to join our growing team.
This position combines professional arboriculture with residential sales and client consultation. You will meet with homeowners at their properties, assess their trees and tree care needs, provide knowledgeable recommendations, develop scopes of work, and prepare proposals for tree care services.
We are looking for an experienced arborist who enjoys working with people and wants to take their knowledge of trees into a client-facing sales role.
What You'll Be Doing
- Conduct on-site consultations with residential clients
- Assess tree health, structure, condition, and potential hazards
- Identify pruning, removal, tree health care, and other appropriate arboricultural services
- Provide professional recommendations based on the client's goals and the condition of the trees
- Develop accurate scopes of work and detailed proposals
- Explain recommendations and proposed work clearly to homeowners
- Present proposals within 48 business hours of the consultation
- Follow up with prospective clients and manage the sales process from consultation through approval
- Build long-term relationships with homeowners and referral partners
- Communicate approved scopes, job specifications, access requirements, and special considerations to the production team
- Work closely with the owner, general manager and field teams to ensure projects are properly scoped and executed
- Maintain an organized calendar and follow-up schedule
- Participate in weekly sales meetings to review proposals, leads, sales performance, and upcoming work
- Develop new business through referrals, networking, and community relationships
- Follow up with clients after completed work to ensure satisfaction
- Maintain strong job profitability while providing appropriate recommendations for the property
What We're Looking For
Required:
- ISA Certified Arborist
- Strong knowledge of tree biology, pruning practices, tree risk, and general arboriculture
- Experience conducting tree assessments and making professional tree care recommendations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to confidently meet with homeowners and explain technical information in an understandable way
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Valid driver's license
Preferred:
- Previous experience in residential tree care sales
- Experience preparing estimates and proposals
- Experience with tree risk assessment
- Experience working directly with residential homeowners
- Experience in a production or operations environment within the tree care industry
Compensation
- $85,000 starting base salary
- $1,000,000 annual sales target
- 1% commission on annual sales over $1,000,000
- Commission paid after the customer's final invoice is paid in full
- Commission structure subject to review after one year based on performance
- First performance review after 60 days

About the Position
This is not a traditional sales position. Your arboricultural knowledge is the foundation of the role.
We want our clients to meet with someone who understands trees, can identify problems, explain their options, and recommend the right work for the property. The sales component is about developing those recommendations into well-scoped projects and building lasting relationships with our customers.
The right person will be able to balance arboricultural expertise, sound judgment, client relationships, and business development.
