Position Summary
PrideStaff, a premier staffing firm in Bend, OR, is seeking an Accountant to manage indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. In this role, you will serve as the subject matter expert for invoicing and exemption inquiries, prepare and file tax returns, and provide critical support to internal teams and external clients.
Primary Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance & Filing: Prepare and file sales and use tax returns across multiple tax jurisdictions; build corresponding tax reports by jurisdiction to prepare, file, and pay taxes due.
- Exemption Management: Collect, verify, archive, and retrieve sales tax exemption documentation. Review exemption documentation for accuracy and compliance, and follow up with locations/stores to improve compliance.
- Financial Analysis & Reconciliation: Analyze system-generated reports to determine if the correct amount of tax was charged to customers; review use tax reporting and reconcile sales tax general ledger accounts.
- Team Support & Training: Provide indirect tax compliance support, guidance, and applicable training to tire center and company personnel regarding sales tax exemptions, use tax reporting, invoice corrections, and general tax inquiries.
- Audit, Research & Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive tax records, general files, and training documents. Perform tax research and support audits conducted by various taxing jurisdictions.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (tax experience is preferred but not required).
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced PC skills, including the Google Suite with a strong emphasis on Excel. Desirable system knowledge includes NetSuite, Customer First, OneSource, Vertex, or a working knowledge of similar tax determination engines, general ledger, and ERP systems.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. This includes professional drafting and proofreading abilities, active listening, asking appropriate questions, and avoiding interruptions.
- Core Competencies: Strong attention to detail, analytical problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to manage work assignments through effective prioritization and time management.
