The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of ground-up construction projects from start to finish, the ability to offer innovative, strategic solutions to complex challenges, and drive business results in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Oversee ground-up construction with strong knowledge of foundations, structural, exterior walls, and MEP systems
- Develop and execute project goals, schedules, budgets, and strategy while providing detailed assumptions with methodology for accomplishing and/or managing goals and objectives
- Work through entitlement process with job teams and authorities having jurisdiction
- Act as the primary senior level contact with client through the throughout the duration of the project
- Prepare RFPs needed for vendor and contractor services; manage selection and oversee work
- Guide the client and team through the design implementation process including conceptual, schematic, design development and construction documentation and signoff
- Develop and maintain master project schedules and successfully execute project directives on time and within budget
- Build and maintain rapport with client representatives and ensure that the scopes of work, deliverables, and performance standards are fully understood
- Work with City of Chicago representatives and contractors to provide accurate and timely reporting per redevelopment agreement requirements
- Prepare and update project status reports, update tracking reports, and maintain files for due diligence and financials
- Manage client and service provider relationships
- Track budgets and work progress
- Review, edit, and negotiate vendor service agreements and specifications
- Facilitate communication and coordinate critical project meetings for operations, accounting, architects, legal, contractors, client representatives, and team members
- Perform special projects for Development Services, as needed
- 8-10 years of professional experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or relevant field
- Ability to successfully communicate and coordinate with multiple project team members at a variety of professional levels
- Demonstrate high level of performance in project budgeting and contract negotiations
- Build consensus and rapport across multiple disciplines and departments
- Ability to work independently, exercise judgement, and take initiative
- Excellent attention to detail and organization
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Highly organized with strong analytical skills
- Extensive knowledge of MS Office applications and MS Project
- Ability to multitask while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
