Local Team Collaboration:

Our physicians are involved with numerous work groups, including: Sutter-wide critical care clinical improvement committee, ICU subject matter expert group, code blue committee, pulmonary embolism review committee, ICU celebration of life committee, and more.
Qualifications:
-
Board-certified or board-eligible critical care physicians (MD or DO).

A commitment to excellence in clinical service, with strong problem-solving abilities essential for the ICU setting.

Active California medical license.

Authorized to work in the United States.

Not currently considering 2027 fellows.
Scheduling:
-
80-90% of shifts will be at the Summit campus, with occasional shifts at the Alta Bates campus in Berkeley.

Average of 11 to 12 shifts per month. Block schedule with roughly 1/3 night shifts. We work together to make a monthly schedule we can all agree upon.
Key Responsibilities:

Our Summit campus is a comprehensive stroke center and STEMI center with a robust cardiac surgery program, including a structural heart program. Our 36-bed ICU is a mixed unit with medical, surgical, cardiac surgery, and neuro patients. We have a growing VA ECMO program and are seeking physicians with this skillset.

Bedside teaching of Internal Medicine residents.

We work in EPIC, with access to our own internal informatics platform.
Living and Working in the East Bay:

Our team is a social group and meets occasionally for nights out. Additionally, we indulge in our amazing local restaurant scene as well as our beautiful local parks. Nearby, we have access to the parks along the San Francisco Bay and redwood-covered East Bay hills. We are one hour from wine country and three hours from the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Rewards and Compensation:

Competitive hourly compensation with annual income of $361,680 to $394,560 depending on shift commitment.
