About the Opportunity
Bring your commercial plumbing and medical gas expertise to a major new construction project in the Austin, Texas area.
We are hiring an experienced Medical Gas Plumber to install, assemble, braze, test, and support medical gas and vacuum piping systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable, safety-focused plumber who understands the precision, documentation, cleanliness, and code requirements involved in healthcare construction.
You will work closely with project leadership, inspectors, medical gas verifiers, and other trades to ensure each system is installed safely, accurately, and according to project specifications.
What You Will Do
- Install medical gas and vacuum piping systems on commercial new construction projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, and piping isometrics.
- Lay out, measure, cut, fit, purge, braze, and install copper piping.
- Install hangers, supports, valves, outlets and inlets, zone valve boxes, manifolds, and related medical gas components.
- Work with oxygen, medical air, medical vacuum, nitrous oxide, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, WAGD, and other systems required by the project.
- Follow required procedures for copper preparation, cleanliness, nitrogen purging, brazing, labeling, and system protection.
- Assist with pressure testing, leak testing, inspections, blowdown, and system verification.
- Coordinate installation activities with foremen, supervisors, inspectors, verifiers, and other trades.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Follow OSHA, company, project, and medical gas safety requirements.
What We Are Seeking
- Previous medical gas piping installation experience.
- Commercial or healthcare new construction plumbing experience.
- Current Texas Journeyman or Master Plumber license.
- Current Texas Medical Gas Piping Installation Endorsement, or the ability to obtain it before performing medical gas installation work.
- ASSE 6010 Medical Gas Systems Installer certification strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 99 requirements.
- Strong copper piping, nitrogen-purged brazing, pipe layout, and installation experience.
- Ability to read blueprints, isometrics, drawings, and project specifications.
- Understanding of proper medical gas installation, cleanliness, testing, and safety procedures.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in an active, fast-paced construction environment.
- OSHA 10 preferred.
- Dependable transportation to jobsites in the Austin area.
