The Actors Fund Home, an assisted living, skilled nursing, accredited dementia care ,sub acute rehabilitation center and memory care unit located in Englewood, NJ, and a recipient of the U.S. News and World Report’s coveted “Best Nursing Homes in America,” seeks a Restorative Aide who will be responsible for performing restorative procedures that maximize residents' existing abilities, emphasize independence instead of dependence and minimize the negative effects of disability with an attitude of realistic optimism under the supervision of the rehabilitation therapist and nursing department.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Occupational Therapist (OT)/ Occupational Therapist Assistant with treatments, including activities of daily living (ADLs), feeding groups and/or other occupational therapy programs.

Assist Physical Therapist (PT)/ Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) with treatments, including ambulation, range of motion exercises, application of packs and/or other physical therapy programs.

Assist the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) with carry-over of speech therapy treatment programs.

Conduct maintenance therapy programs and/or restorative programs established by therapists and under the direct supervision of therapists and/or nursing personnel.

Maintain documentation of therapy programs and participates in the development and evaluation of resident’s progress and goals.

Apply and remove equipment, splints, assistive devices and other equipment upon request and under the direction of the therapist/nurse; cleans and maintains treatment areas as per policy and procedures.

Perform clerical duties within the department, including maintenance of client files and records under the direction of the therapist; assist in scheduling, transporting and preparation of residents/clients for rehabilitation services.

Assist residents in preparing for medical tests (i.e. lab work, x-ray, therapy, etc.) and collects specimens as instructed. Reports all resident changes in condition or unusual findings in resident condition, attitude, reactions, appetite as well as incidents and accidents promptly to the nurse on duty.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.

Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Effective interpersonal skills in dealing with residents, co-workers, families and various health professionals.

Ability to work independently and problem solve with a minimal supervision.
-
Have an understanding of, affection for, and a desire to work with the aging.
