Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for building projects, including load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork layout, and ventilation design, while adhering to energy efficiency and sustainability standards.
- Oversee the design of HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into the overall building design.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and interns, supporting their professional growth and development.
- Conduct thorough reviews of mechanical designs for accuracy, functionality, and compliance with project requirements.
- Participate in project meetings, effectively communicating technical details and providing guidance on mechanical system implementation.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess the progress and quality of mechanical installations, addressing any design-related issues or conflicts that may arise.
- Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely procurement of mechanical components and equipment.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering and building systems design.
- Provide input on the implementation of sustainable building practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on building systems design.
- Strong expertise in HVAC systems design, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Proficiency in REVIT (preferred) and other relevant software for creating detailed technical drawings and conducting calculations
- In-depth knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers and interns.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose innovative solutions to complex design challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy and quality.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required
Salary is commensurate with experience.
