About the Role
Carl's Place is seeking a dependable and motivated Maintenance Technician I to help maintain the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our equipment and facilities. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, basic equipment repairs, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and supporting general facility upkeep. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, enjoys solving problems, and takes pride in keeping equipment and operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
- Complete basic repairs on industrial equipment, including replacing bearings, switches, belts, and other wear components.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical and electrical equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Perform general facility maintenance, including filter changes, lighting repairs, snow removal, painting, and basic building upkeep.
- Replace or repair existing electrical wiring on equipment as needed.
- Read and interpret basic mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
- Perform MIG welding to complete repairs and fabricate basic components; TIG welding experience is a plus.
- Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Utilize the company's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment history.
- Assist with light carpentry, fabrication, and assembly projects to support production and facility improvements.
- Help ensure equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe, operational condition.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Warehouse, and other departments to resolve maintenance needs.
- Support production and warehouse operations when needed.
- Work safely and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years of industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, or related experience is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical and electrical drawings.
- MIG welding required experience is a plus.
- Ability to follow written procedures, equipment manuals, and work instructions.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or similar software.
- Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing as a member of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet in a lift.
- Work safely around moving machinery and manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions when performing facility maintenance.
- Ability to work overtime or weekends as business needs require.
Additional Information
Reports To: Senior Director of Engineering and Facilities
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with overtime and occasional weekends as business needs require.
Pay Range: $30.00–$33.00 per hour (based on qualifications and experience).
