Maryland Pediatric Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will support both patients and providers by assisting with clinical care, front-office operations, scheduling, documentation, and insurance-related processes. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, bilingual in Spanish and English, and comfortable working in a busy pediatric healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Welcome patients in a professional and friendly manner, verify demographic and insurance information, and complete check-in procedures including triage.
- Prepare examination rooms, maintain appropriate supplies, sterilize equipment, and assist healthcare providers with examinations and procedures.
- Administer vaccinations, perform lab tests, including newborn screening, obtain and accurately record patient vital signs, medical histories, and other clinical information in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate patient appointments while managing provider calendars and supporting efficient daily clinic operations.
- Answer incoming telephone calls, respond to routine patient inquiries, provide appointment reminders, and route calls to the appropriate staff members.
- Assist with insurance and third-party billing activities, including insurance eligibility verification and claims-related processes.
- Perform accurate data entry and maintain complete and organized patient and administrative records.
- Support internal communication and coordination among clinical and administrative staff.
- Assist with revenue cycle management activities and other administrative clinical duties and functions as needed.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Previous administrative experience in a healthcare environment is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, for documentation, data management, and reporting.
- Working knowledge of managed care processes, health insurance policies, and revenue cycle management.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and experience working with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, providers, and coworkers.
- Strong telephone communication, data entry, typing accuracy, and scheduling skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced medical office.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling patient and other sensitive information.
- Medical Assistant Certificate required.
- Bilingual Spanish and English required.
