Overview
Support Staff Duties and Responsibilities:
To provide support to residents based on personal experience; a Support Staff performs many different tasks. Support Staff persons must identify these core duties and responsibilities. These duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to facilitating residents’ participation with Ted Talks that address anxiety, depression and other dual diagnosis concerns, therapeutic movies with major themes of recovery and inspiration, journaling activities to explore ongoing growth and challenges, and art projects that allow the resident time for personal expression and reflection.
Support Patients
The Support Staff first and foremost uses their personal experiences to develop meaningful and trusting relationships with patients, acting as a mentor. As someone who successfully managed their own recovery, the Support Staff provides residents an example of what they can strive for in their recovery.
Support Staff will assist facility therapists with programing that is within their scope of practice. They will assist other staff with coordinating living skills and when those skills are being practiced.
Coordinate Patient Logistics
In order to support the facility, the Support Staff handles some of the logistics of patient arrival and departure. This includes arranging transportation for the patient, managing follow-up appointments, and working with facility administrators and discharge staff members.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of professionals working with individuals in a substance use treatment setting.
- Instruct the and train staff on the various programs that enhance the quality of life for clients.
- Oversee administrative tasks including scheduling and overtime budgeting.
- Complete the 90 day and annual evaluations for support staff.
- Assist with the coordination of new hire trainings and med tech trainings.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss program updates, challenges, and successes.
- Provide training and support to staff to enhance their skills in relationship management and program development.
- Attend meetings as required.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of managing staff.
- Experience working with individuals in a substance use treatment setting.
- Excellent relationship management skills to build rapport with clients and staff.
- Proven supervisory skills with the ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
- Proficient in administrative tasks including budgeting and program management.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in program development and implementation.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
