Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, administering medications as prescribed, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption to ensure proper nutrition
- Support individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or neurodevelopmental disorders through personalized care plans and engaging activities
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
- Document care activities accurately in accordance with care plans and regulatory standards; ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times
- Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being and social engagement
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to observe patients closely for signs of health changes or distress; experience with patient monitoring is essential
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures and first aid certification are advantageous
- Familiarity with dementia care, hospice care, memory care, and caring for individuals with disabilities or intellectual/developmental disabilities is desirable
- Experience supporting residents with Alzheimer’s disease or other neurodegenerative conditions is a plus
- Strong understanding of safety protocols including manual handling techniques like heavy lifting and the use of assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team while adhering to care plans and regulatory standards such as HIPAA
