Job Description:
As a diesel service mechanic at R & J Trucking, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance and minor repair of diesel engine trucks, and various types of trailers. Your role is crucial in keeping our fleet in top condition, minimizing downtime, and ensuring the safe and reliable service to our customers.
Diesel Service Mechanic Schedule:
- Monday - Friday: 2:00 P.M. - 12:00 A.M.
Diesel Service Technician Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on trucks & trailers.
- Troubleshoot and repair air braking systems.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and carry out necessary repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimize breakdowns and ensure vehicle safety.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
- Coordinate, and perform repairs on tractors, trailers, and hydraulic systems.
- Assist in mentoring other Technicians
- Ensure that all work complies FMCSA/DOT standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Diesel Service Mechanic Benefits:
- Paying up to $24.50 per hour based on experience & certifications.
- $2.50 per hour shift differential for 2nd shift (Reflected by pay scale listed).

- Quarterly attendance bonus ($100.00).
- Yearly tool allowance ($200.00 plus $20.00 per year of service).
Diesel Service Technician Qualifications:
- 1+years of experience as a diesel mechanic is preferred.
- 1+ years of experience as a mechanic in any industry is required -OR-
- Training in any mechanical field through a trade or vocational school.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues.
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in diesel mechanics is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.
