Responsibilities
This role includes but is not limited to the following:
- Prepare treatment rooms with appropriate surgical instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment in accordance with infection prevention protocols.
- Assist oral surgeons during procedures by handling dental instruments, managing suction and irrigation, and ensuring patient comfort through chairside support.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging technology to aid diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical histories, recording vital signs, and ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Maintain strict infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures of dental instruments and equipment, including dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on post-operative care instructions, medication usage, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal healing.
- Document procedures accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) system while adhering to medical coding standards for billing purposes.
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks like scheduling appointments, managing patient management software, communication with referral offices, and coordinating with the dental receptionist for seamless clinic operations.

Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on oral surgery or general dentistry; prior experience in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics is a plus.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and dental sterilization procedures.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Familiarity with EMR systems; experience with patient management software is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging devices safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of infection prevention management practices including aseptic technique and healthcare infection control expertise.
- Excellent, professional communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
