Tactical Distributors is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. This hands-on position supports the company’s day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial recordkeeping, and month-end close activities.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting processes and enjoys working in a fast-paced ecommerce environment. Success in this role requires accuracy, responsiveness, and the ability to work effectively with vendors and internal teams. This position will work out of our office in Virginia Beach, VA and the pay will be $18-$22/hr depending on experience.
- Process vendor invoices, including reviewing, coding, verifying, and entering invoices into the accounting system.
- Reconcile vendor statements and research and resolve discrepancies.
- Reconcile credit card transactions and ensure expenses are accurately allocated.
- Assist with preparing and processing payment runs, including ACH and check payments, in accordance with company policies.
- Manage accounts receivable billing, payment application, and collection activities for an assigned subsidiary.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records, including invoices, payments, and correspondence.
- Collaborate with internal teams to obtain approvals and confirm proper expense coding.
- Monitor shared accounting inboxes and respond to vendor and internal inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including preparing reports and recording accruals.
- Support financial audits and compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and assist with implementing solutions.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Two to three years of experience in accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial processes.
- Experience using NetSuite or a comparable ERP system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and research skills.
- Clear and professional communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with vendors and colleagues across the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while contributing as a dependable member of the finance team.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods and regularly work on a computer.
