Beyond The Note is a locally owned music school that is more than just a place to learn music; we are a community dedicated to providing music mentorship to kids and adults alike. We are on the hunt for dedicated and talented Guitar & Bass instructors to join our incredible team. Our mission is to nurture and develop talent, instill self-confidence, and build lifelong relationships with music lovers.
We're looking for passionate instructors to teach acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and bass guitar. All genres and styles from rock, blues, and jazz to pop and folk are welcome to apply, and being a multi-instrumentalist who can comfortably switch between guitar and bass is a huge plus!
Responsibilities
As a Guitar & Bass instructor at Beyond The Note, you will:
- Teach private and group guitar and bass lessons to students aged 5–80.
- Coach student ensembles, such as rock bands or jazz combos, and prepare them for tracking sessions and live performances.
- Utilize provided teaching and operating systems to manage student progress and lesson planning.
- Potentially assist at Beyond The Note events, including student concerts and promotional events.
Details
- Job Type: Part-time, 1099 independent contractor.
- Pay: $30-$50 per hour.
- Schedule: Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Monday–Saturday availability is required, with Friday and Saturday availability being a major plus.
- Location: All lessons are taught at our school. No travel is required.
Requirements
- A strong musical background and proficiency on fretted instruments (guitar and/or bass).
- A clear understanding of music theory, fretboard mechanics, scale structures, and the ability to effectively communicate these concepts to students of all ages.
- Previous teaching experience or a natural flair for music education.
- A passion for music education and a genuine desire to make a difference in students' lives.
- Punctuality, professionalism, and a commitment to nurturing a supportive learning environment.
- Reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree in Guitar Performance, Music Education, or a related field (equivalent touring, session, or gigging experience will also be considered).
- Active or previous experience in music ensembles, bands, live tracking, or stage performances.
- Knowledge of various musical genres, gear setups, and effects pedals.
- Experience working with children.
