Position Overview
The Gas Turbine Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul, of industrial gas turbine engines. This role performs both shop and field service work on gas turbines, ensuring turbine packages operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with industrial gas turbines, precision mechanical assembly, and maintenance practices in power generation, aerospace, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, inspections, repairs, and overhauls on gas turbine engines and associated mechanical systems, modules, components and related accessories in accordance with work scopes, instructions, and other approved technical data.
- Disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, and reassemble gas turbine components including compressors, combustion, turbine, and accessory systems.
- Diagnose mechanical failures using service manuals, technical specifications, and diagnostic equipment.
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, torque tools, and other precision instruments.
- Conduct borescope inspections and evaluate component condition for repair or replacement.
- Install and align rotating equipment, couplings, bearings, shafts, and support systems.
- Perform troubleshooting on engine mechanical, air, lubrication, fuel, cooling systems.
- Complete detailed maintenance reports, inspection documentation, and work orders.
- Maintain compliance with company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and quality standards.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and properly care for company tools and equipment.
Minimum Requirements
· High School Diploma or GED
- Must have proper hand tools.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds independently
- Ability to travel up to 15% for training and as needed customer support
- 5+ years of mechanical experience working on industrial gas turbines, and aircraft engines.
- Experience reading drawings, assembly diagrams, and OEM service manuals.
- Strong understanding of mechanical tolerances, precision measurements, torque procedures, and alignment techniques.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment and mechanical hand tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical failures independently.
Preferred Requirements
- 15+ years of mechanical experience on aircraft or industrial engines preferred.
- Must be able to tolerate frequent exposure to outside weather conditions.
- Technical vocational training, trade school or military aircraft maintenance program, or an equivalent apprenticeship program.
- High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision with work performed.
- Engine proficiency in listening, reading, speaking and writing.
- Technical school, military training, or trade certification in turbine technology, aviation maintenance, diesel technology, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred.
