Swim Instructor (Part-Time)

Do you love teaching swimming and making a difference in people's lives?
ISR Monterey Bay is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and dependable Swim Instructor to join our growing team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about water safety and enjoys teaching swimmers of all ages and abilities in a positive, one-on-one environment.
This position focuses on traditional swim instruction and offers the opportunity to teach a variety of programs, including:
- Homeschool Physical Education Swim Program
- Adaptive Swim Lessons
- Stroke Development
- Adult Swim Lessons
- Beginner to Advanced Traditional Swim Lessons
Please note: This position does not include ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) instruction, and ISR Instructor training is not provided through this position.
Schedule
This is a part-time position requiring availability on:
- Weekdays (including afternoon and evening hours)
- Saturdays and Sundays
Scheduling is flexible based on student enrollment, but weekend availability is required.
Responsibilities
- Teach private, one-on-one traditional swim lessons for children and adults
- Provide instruction for homeschool PE swim programs, adaptive aquatics, stroke development, and adult swim lessons
- Create engaging lesson plans tailored to each student's age, ability, and goals
- Foster a safe, encouraging, and positive learning environment
- Monitor student progress and communicate with parents and adult students
- Enforce all water safety rules and emergency procedures
- Perform daily water chemistry testing and maintain accurate records
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and professional aquatic facility
- Represent ISR Monterey Bay with professionalism and exceptional customer service
Qualifications
Required:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Minimum 5 years of swim instruction experience
- Nationally recognized swim instructor certification
- Current Adult & Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification
- Ability to successfully complete a Live Scan background check
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, professional, and punctual
- Passion for teaching and water safety
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a Lifeguard, Sports Coach, or in teaching physical education is highly desirable
- Experience working with children or students in educational or recreational settings is preferred
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to effectively guide learners of all ages
- CPR and First Aid certification is required for both adults and children
- Candidates must also hold a recognized swimming certification
- Lifeguard training or Water Safety Instruction certification is beneficial; however, candidates are expected to be willing to obtain additional relevant certifications as needed
- This position will not include ISR training
- Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills and patience when working with diverse groups of learners
- Enthusiasm for promoting health, fitness, and water safety among participants

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
