EXAMINATION INFORMATION
EXPERIENCE EVALUATION: An experience evaluation consists of a quantitative evaluation of an Applicant’s academic training and experience pertinent to the classification for which an examination is taken, based on the statement of experience as recorded on the candidate’s application and on academic training based on required credentials.
Under adinistrative supervision, audits and examines various municipal income tax accounts from individuals, businesses, and employers and recommends areas for targeted compliance programs or in-depth audits. Assigns, performs, summarizes, and communicates results of tax investigations. Makes recommendations for appropriate action based upon results of investigations. Conducts the more complex compliance programs and audits. Works with other divisional staff to complete tasks and to train and/or check the work of divisional staff if needed. Assists taxpayers and businesses in person within and outside of the office, over the phone, internet, and thru written correspondence. Performs other job-related duties as required.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required. One year offull-time paid experience in accounting or auditing required. One year full-time paid
experience in the preparation and LQ auditing of income taxes required. {Substitution: One year of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted for each year of college lacking) Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software packages. Strong analytical, problem- solving, writing, and verbal communication skills are required. Valid State of Ohio Driver's License

VETERANS’ PREFERENCE
Veterans' preference will be awarded, when applicable, to eligible veterans in accordance with Civil Service Rules 4.40E, 4.40F and 4.40G. Proof of active service or a DD Form 214,
must be presented to the Commission at the time of filing application for the examination in which credit is sought in order to qualify for veterans' credit. If the applicant has received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions that applicant shall receive an additional five (5) points added to their raw score on the examination; or ten (10) points are added to their raw score on the examination if applicant’s supporting documentation indicates more than fifteen percent (15%) service connected disability. NOTE: Only DD Form 214 (long form) or an official armed service document indicating type of discharge or separation and the dates of active service will be accepted as proof of active service.
