Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and efficiently manage intake procedures using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Prepare patients for examinations by performing tests such as visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, and slit-lamp evaluations with aseptic technique.
- Educate patients on eye health, treatment plans, and post-procedure care while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Maintain detailed medical records, update charts promptly, and support medical coding and billing processes related to ophthalmic services.
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling retail sales of optical products when applicable.
Requirements
- Prior experience in medical office settings or clinic environments preferred but not required; experience specifically in ophthalmology or optometry is highly desirable.
- Excellent patient care skills with a friendly demeanor and the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and secure handling of medical records.
