We are seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer to design, develop, enhance, troubleshoot, and implement solutions within the ServiceNow platform. The candidate will support the ongoing maintenance and continual improvement of implemented ServiceNow modules, including ITSM, ITFM, HRSD, ITOM, PPM, and SPM.
This role requires a strong hands-on developer who can work with product owners, stakeholders, project teams, and end users to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and support production ServiceNow applications. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, follow ServiceNow best practices, and maintain a secure and scalable platform environment.

Work Schedule: Hybrid — 4 days onsite in Washington, DC and 1 day remote

Responsibilities:
The Senior ServiceNow Developer will be responsible for:
- Designing, developing, enhancing, debugging, and implementing ServiceNow solutions.
- Maintaining and improving implemented ServiceNow modules, including ITSM, ITFM, HRSD, ITOM, PPM, and SPM.
- Working with product owners and stakeholders to build requested items, tasks, workflows, and process automation.
- Gathering, documenting, and maintaining functional business requirements, process flows, and business use cases.
- Designing and developing ServiceNow forms, tables, modules, workflows, and Flow Designer solutions.
- Developing workflows and flows to support approvals, routing, lifecycle processes, and business requirements.
- Designing, creating, and configuring Business Rules, UI Policies, UI Actions, Client Scripts, ACLs, and advanced scripting.
- Designing, creating, and configuring Notifications, UI Pages, UI Macros, Script Includes, Formatters, CMS, and Service Portal components.
- Configuring and maintaining data integrations between ServiceNow and other systems.
- Using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and REST APIs to support ServiceNow development and integrations.
- Creating ServiceNow update sets and promoting changes through multiple instances into production.
- Testing update sets and validating changes before production release.
- Troubleshooting production problems related to ServiceNow applications.
- Researching, testing, building, and coordinating the integration of new products based on client requirements.
- Designing and developing new software products or major enhancements to existing applications.
- Addressing system integration, compatibility, and multi-platform issues.
- Consulting with project teams and end users to identify application requirements.
- Performing feasibility analysis for potential future projects.
- Assisting in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, integration tools, and testing tools.
- Resolving software issues and responding to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
- Assisting with ServiceNow report configuration and maintenance, as needed.
- Performing operational administrative tasks, as needed.
- Participating in the development of software user manuals and related documentation.
- Acting as a team lead on projects when required.
- Instructing, assigning, directing, and reviewing the work of other developers on the development team.
- Performing code reviews and mentoring junior developers.
- Following ServiceNow best practices, agency security guidelines, governance policies, and maintaining the platform as close to out-of-the-box as possible.
- Staying current on ServiceNow releases, features, and industry trends.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement, automation, and platform optimization.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 6 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience with the following modules:ITSM, ITFM, HRSD, ITOM, PPM, SPM
- Minimum 6 years of experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and REST APIs.
- Minimum 6 years of experience implementing ServiceNow architecture and ServiceNow scripting.
- Minimum 6 years of experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
The following certifications are highly desired:
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer, CAD
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist, CIS
