Sun Harbor Healthcare is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and organized Activities Director to lead and oversee our resident recreation and engagement programs. This role is responsible for developing meaningful activities that enhance residents’ quality of life while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, leadership, and a passion for enriching the lives of seniors in a skilled nursing environment.
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility’s activity programs
Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to resident activity services
Complete resident assessments and develop individualized activity care plans
Encourage resident and family participation in activity planning and care plan development
Coordinate recreational programs, special events, outings, and field trips
Arrange transportation for community outings and recreational events when necessary
Collaborate with nursing, therapy, social services, and other departments to support resident well-being
Ensure accurate documentation of resident participation and progress notes
Participate in discharge planning, care conferences, surveys, and quality assurance initiatives
Supervise, train, and support recreation department staff
Conduct in-service education and training programs for department personnel
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations
Review departmental complaints, concerns, and survey findings and implement corrective action plans as needed
Monitor activity programming to ensure residents’ physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs are being met
Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and community organizations
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a social or recreation program within the last five (5) years, including at least one (1) year full-time in a patient activities program in a healthcare setting
Qualified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant may be considered
Completion of a state-approved activity training course preferred
Nursing home or long-term care experience preferred
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and PCC preferred
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
