POSITION TITLE: Driver
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Special Projects Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Older Adult Services
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Drive agency supplied vehicle to transport adults to and from doctor’s appointments, shopping, running errands and activities. Destinations may vary but in general will be within the Southside Hampton Roads area of Virginia.
· Employee should be available for contact with the Special Projects Coordinator during the hours between trips in the event that scheduling changes need to be made.
· In the event that the vehicle requires repairs, driver will be expected to assist in bringing it to the repair shop and picking it up with assistance from other staff.
· Logs will be completed on a daily basis showing hours and mileage used. Driver will take responsibility for refilling gas tank using the agency credit card and providing receipts to transportation coordinator. Obvious maintenance requirements will be identified by the driver and communicated to the Special Projects Coordinator. For example, tires need inflation.
Knowledge and Skills:
· Valid driver’s license and current car insurance
· An excellent driving record
· Knowledge of auto maintenance procedures
· Knowledge of health, safety and emergency policy and procedures
· Sensitivity to the needs of older people and those with disabilities
· The ability to identify changes in client function and report to supervisor or case worker
· Knowledge of transfer procedures for individuals with handicaps
· Sensitivity to the religious and cultural values and traditions of clients
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to perform the tasks without physical or health limitations
· May include: lifting u to 25 pounds and standing for one hour at a time
Education:
· High school degree or equivalent at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer
· Previous experience preferred working with the elderly and people with disabilities.
Pay: $14.00 per hour
