According to established procedures, collects and performs limited tests of specimens per physician order. Assists physician and nurse with designated procedures. Performs related secretarial/clerical duties.
Requirements
Education and Training
- Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program. * MA certification/registration within 6 months of hire. * BLS required.
Experience
- One (1) year related medical office experience; or 160-hour externship completed within the last five years in a medical/office setting.
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications
- Ability to collect samples (e.g., blood, throat cultures, etc.) and to perform limited tests of such.
- Ability to operate microscope, cameras, videotape, etc.
Physical Requirements
Requires full range of body motion which may include handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination -Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time -Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range -May require exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment, such as risk of falls, strains, etc.
Schedule: 32 Hours per week, 8:00am - 4:30pm, one day at Portage surgical office.
