4th Grade Reading Teacher Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate, student-centered, and highly effective 4th-Grade Reading Teacher committed to ensuring academic success for all students. The ideal candidate will create a literacy-rich classroom environment that promotes a love of reading, critical thinking, and strong communication skills. The teacher will use data-driven instruction, evidence-based literacy practices, and targeted interventions to accelerate student achievement while fostering positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities: Instruction and Student Achievement
- Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned reading instruction that meets the diverse needs of all learners.
- Implement research-based literacy practices, including vocabulary development, fluency, comprehension, writing, and critical thinking skills.
- Utilize small-group instruction and targeted interventions to address learning gaps and support student growth.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of English Learners, students receiving special education services, and advanced learners.
- Create engaging and meaningful learning experiences that promote student ownership and a love of reading.
Data-Driven Instruction
- Analyze student assessment data to identify strengths, areas of need, and instructional priorities.
- Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments.
- Adjust instructional practices based on data to ensure continuous academic growth.
- Participate in data meetings and collaborate with instructional teams to develop intervention and enrichment plans.
Classroom Environment and Culture
- Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom culture that promotes high expectations for all students.
- Implement effective classroom management systems that maximize instructional time and student engagement.
- Foster strong relationships with students and encourage perseverance, collaboration, and a growth mindset.
Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, interventionists, and campus leadership to improve student outcomes.
- Participate actively in professional learning communities (PLCs), professional development, and campus initiatives.
- Maintain accurate student records, assessment data, and instructional documentation.
- Support school-wide goals and contribute positively to the campus culture.
Family and Community Engagement
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, academic goals, and classroom expectations.
- Partner with families to support literacy development and student success.
- Promote positive relationships between the school and community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Texas teaching certification appropriate for elementary education OR current enrollment in an approved Alternative Certification Program (ACP) with eligibility to teach.
- Demonstrated knowledge of literacy instruction, reading development, and best practices in elementary education.
- Experience using assessment data to drive instructional decisions.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and student achievement.
Pay: From $64,000.00 per year
