Overview
Little Explorers Academy Preschool is a warm, child-centered, play-based early learning community dedicated to nurturing curiosity, creativity, and confidence in young children. Our philosophy is rooted in hands-on exploration, social-emotional development, and allowing children to learn through meaningful play. We’re looking for a caring, dependable Preschool Aide to support our lead teacher in creating a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for young learners. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who loves working with children and wants to grow in the field of early childhood education. This position would begin September 1, 2026 and continue throughout the school year to May 15, 2027.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing play-based activities that support children’s growth and development.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Support children during play, group activities, transitions, recess and snack.
- Build positive, nurturing relationships with children and help model cooperative behavior.
- Prepare materials, set up classroom activities, and help with art projects and sensory play.
- Observe children’s needs and communicate any concerns or highlights to the lead teacher.
- Engage warmly with families and maintain a welcoming classroom atmosphere.
- Help supervise outdoor play and ensure children’s safety at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with young children (babysitting, volunteering, or classroom experience all count).
- A genuine love for early childhood education and a play-based teaching philosophy.
- Ability to follow directions, work as part of a team, and take initiative when needed.
- Patient, positive, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; early childhood coursework is a plus but not necessary.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $16.22 - $16.67 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 per week
