Position Summary
The part-time Staff Nurse provides direct care to individuals undergoing substance detoxification in a supportive, therapeutic environment. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, this position monitors patient health, administers treatment protocols, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care. The Staff Nurse plays a key role in delivering trauma-informed, recovery-oriented services that align with the standards of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Medicaid, Medicare, and LifeHouse policy.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Assessment and Care
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of physical and mental health during detox admission and throughout care
- Monitor vital signs, withdrawal symptoms, and other health indicators to ensure safety and stabilization
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to clinical protocols
Treatment Coordination and Education
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and behavioral health staff to develop individualized care plans
- Provide patient education on detox processes, medication, recovery planning, and wellness practices
- Advocate for patients’ emotional and psychological needs using a trauma-informed approach
Clinical Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure all nursing care is delivered in alignment with CARF standards and internal clinic procedures
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), including progress notes, vitals, and medication logs
- Adherent to safety protocols, infection control standards, and emergency response procedures
Professionalism and Development
- Respond to medical emergencies with calm and efficient intervention
- Participate in staff training and continuing education to stay current on best practices in withdrawal management and addiction treatment
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold patient rights in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Mexico
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Experience in detoxification, mental health, or addiction treatment settings preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-based environment
- Commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, patient-centered care
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Addiction Nursing (e.g., Certified Addictions Registered Nurse - CARN)
- Experience with trauma-informed care and crisis intervention techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage patients with empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity
Pay: From $38.00 per hour
