Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Volunteer Board Member for a five-year term to contribute strategic oversight and governance to our organization. This role is ideal for senior leaders with a passion for community development, organizational growth, and impactful decision-making. The Volunteer Board Member will collaborate with fellow board members and executive leadership to guide the organization’s mission, ensure compliance, and foster sustainable development.
Duties
- Provide strategic direction and oversight to align organizational goals with community needs
- Participate actively in board meetings, committees, and organizational planning sessions
- Assist in the development and review of policies, programs, and budgets
- Engage in business development efforts to expand organizational reach and impact
- Negotiate partnerships, sponsorships, and funding opportunities to support organizational initiatives
- Lead or support projects aimed at process improvement and operational efficiency
- Monitor organizational performance and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards
- Foster relationships with stakeholders, community partners, and donors to enhance organizational visibility and credibility
Qualifications
- Proven management experience with a background in strategic planning and operations management
- Demonstrated leadership in senior roles within business, nonprofit, or community organizations
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build mutually beneficial partnerships
- Experience in business development, project management, and process improvement initiatives
- Ability to think critically about organizational strategy and governance issues
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Prior board experience is preferred but not required; a commitment to the organization’s mission is essential
