Medical Biller & Coding Specialist (Full-Time, In-Person Only)
Location: In-person only (no remote or hybrid)
Experience: 2–3 years medical billing/coding required
Preferred Setting: Internal Medicine or Family Practice
Position Overview
Responsible for end-to-end medical billing and revenue cycle functions in a family practice setting, including coding, charge entry, claims submission, payment posting, denial management, and accounts receivable follow-up. Works closely with the Certified Professional Coder/Biller to ensure coding accuracy, clean claims, and timely reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on clinical documentation
- Submit and manage electronic and paper insurance claims
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Post payments and reconcile accounts accurately
- Work and follow up on denials, rejections, and unpaid claims
- Manage accounts receivable (30/60/90-day aging)
- Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claims, appeals, and corrections
- Maintain accurate patient billing records
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and payer billing guidelines
- Support providers and staff with billing-related questions
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2–3 years of medical billing and coding experience
- Experience in Internal Medicine or Family Practice preferred
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
- Experience with insurance claims, denials, and AR follow-up
- Familiar with EHR and practice management systems
- Ability to work full-time in a fast-paced, in-person office
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
- Certification (CPC, CCS, CBCS, or equivalent)
- Experience with Office Ally
- Experience with Tebra (Kareo) or similar system

Physical Requirements

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
