Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake processes, including gathering relevant medical history and understanding patient needs
- Prepare, modify, and assemble orthotic and prosthetic devices using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques in a fabrication shop environment
- Ensure proper ICD coding for billing and documentation purposes in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Follow aseptic techniques during device fabrication and fitting procedures to maintain hygiene standards
- Collaborate with clinicians on device adjustments, fittings, and patient care plans to optimize comfort and functionality
- Maintain accurate documentation of fabrication steps, patient interactions, and device modifications in medical terminology
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain device usage, care instructions, and answer questions about orthotics or prosthetics
Qualifications
- Prior experience in fabrication shop environments or hands-on work with hand tools and power tools used in orthotic/prosthetic fabrication
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, orthopedics, and medical terminology relevant to orthotics and prosthetics
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management systems for documentation purposes
- Basic life support certification preferred to ensure safety during patient interactions
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on patient service and education
- Ability to perform intake assessments accurately and follow detailed fabrication procedures
- Knowledge of DME (Durable Medical Equipment), orthotics, prosthetics, ICD coding, aseptic techniques, and client-centered care practices
