Duties
- Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately during retail sales transactions, handling cash, credit cards, and mobile payments with precision.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries.
- Conduct product demos to showcase new or featured items, encouraging customer engagement and increasing sales opportunities.
- Upsell complementary products and promote ongoing promotions to maximize sales and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Manage stock levels by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring merchandise is well-presented and accessible.
- Handle cash drawer operations responsibly, including cash handling, balancing registers at shift end, and maintaining accurate records.
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when assisting customers over the phone or taking orders remotely.
- Assist in merchandising efforts by arranging products attractively to boost visual appeal and sales potential.
- Support the team with supervising experience when needed, guiding new staff or volunteers in cashier procedures and customer service standards.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of store products, including grocery items if applicable, to provide accurate information and recommendations.
Experience
- Previous cashiering experience in retail or grocery stores is preferred; familiarity with POS systems is essential.
- Experience in supervising or leading small teams enhances your ability to support store operations effectively.
- Bilingual skills are a plus, enabling better communication with diverse customer bases.
- Strong communication skills are necessary to deliver clear information and excellent customer service.
- Basic math skills are required for handling transactions accurately and managing cash drawers confidently.
