Bookkeeper

Salary: $53,000–$60,000 per year, depending on experience
About the Opportunity
A well-established company in the Imperial Valley is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Bookkeeper to join its team. The ideal candidate is highly organized, maintains strict confidentiality, and has experience managing day-to-day accounting functions while supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Record daily financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.
- Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices and payments.
- Process accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, collections, and payment posting.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan accounts.
- Prepare and process payroll.
- Maintain employee payroll and expense records and process reimbursements.
- Track cash flow and monitor account balances.
- Prepare financial reports, including:
- Profit & Loss Statements
- Balance Sheets
- Cash Flow Reports
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures.
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare information for accountants during tax filings and audits.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable accounting regulations.
- Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules, when applicable.
- Process sales tax filings and other routine tax reporting.
- Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting by providing accurate financial data.
Qualifications & Skills
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience, including payroll processing.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience processing payroll and ensuring compliance with applicable payroll laws and regulations.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar accounting/ERP systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent mathematical accuracy and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Exceptional organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities.
- High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism when handling sensitive financial information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
