Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper dental care practices, oral hygiene techniques, and preventive strategies tailored to their needs.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using digital imaging equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist the dentist during procedures through chairside support, ensuring smooth workflow with four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow strict infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control standards aligned with healthcare regulations like HIPAA.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
- Experience with dental equipment operation, dental x-ray procedures, and medical imaging techniques.
- Excellent patient communication skills to foster trust and ensure understanding of treatment plans and oral health education.
- Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, patient assessment, and maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Knowledge of infection prevention management practices specific to dental clinics and healthcare settings.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry principles is a plus for providing care tailored to pediatric patients in a friendly manner.
