Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Assistant Manager for Cooperative Housing to join our team. Duties
- Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of cooperative housing properties, including leasing, maintenance, and resident relations.
- Support compliance with Fair Housing regulations, Section 8 programs, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) requirements, and other relevant housing laws.
- Conduct negotiations with residents, vendors, and service providers to ensure favorable terms and resolve disputes efficiently.
- Implement crisis intervention techniques to address emergencies or conflicts among residents or staff promptly and effectively.
- Oversee property management software such as Yardi or OneSite to maintain accurate records of leasing activity, rent payments, and maintenance requests.
- Facilitate landlord-tenant law adherence by providing guidance on legal rights and responsibilities for both residents and staff.
- Employ motivational interviewing and social work skills to support residents facing personal challenges such as addiction or mental health issues.
- Coordinate with community partners to deliver supportive services that promote resident stability and well-being.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in property management within affordable housing settings; familiarity with LIHTC programs is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Fair Housing regulations, Section 8 policies, landlord-tenant law, and related legal frameworks.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to mediate conflicts and foster positive relationships among residents and stakeholders.
- Experience in crisis management and crisis intervention strategies to handle emergencies effectively.
- Background in social work or addiction counseling is a plus for supporting residents’ personal development needs.
- Proficiency in property management software such as Yardi or OneSite for recordkeeping and reporting purposes.
- Effective communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to resident engagement and support.
