A Master Automotive Technician at Statewide Automotive is an A1 level technician who works in our service department and is proficient at diagnosing and repairing a wide range of vehicles issues with minimal supervision. They perform tasks such as completing repair orders, diagnosing vehicle problems, road testing, and documenting repairs. They are expected to maintain tools, prioritize customer service, and uphold safety standards. They typically have prior experience as a "B" Class technician or 3-4 years as a general automotive service technician and possess strong diagnostic and repair skills. They can handle all vehicle systems and components but may also specialize in certain areas.
Skills/Qualifications:
· Strong mechanical knowledge including advanced vehicle systems, welding, hydraulic systems, electrical, steering and suspension, engine repairs, transmissions, brakes, tires, and HVAC system.
- Ability to read and understand directions, write memos, and communicate clearly and professionally in English with customers as well as explain technical information clearly to colleagues
- Ability to assess issues and determine optimal solutions while weighing numerous variables
- Ability to read service manuals, charts and specifications
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, calculate measurements and tolerances, and interpret gauges and diagnostic data
- Understand fluid capacities and weights
- Familiarity with the use of scan tools
· Be detail oriented, accurate, organized, and have good dexterity
· Be team player with the ability to collaborate with other technicians and advisors
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
· 3-4 years of related training/experience
· Valid driver’s license
· ASE Certifications (8 required)
· MACS HVAC System Certification
· Maryland State Inspection License (preferred but not required)
Responsibilities:
· Perform repairs to customer vehicles with accuracy.
- Assess and diagnose vehicle problems and listen to customers to understand what is not working.
- Liaise with the parts department to obtain necessary materials.
- Inspect vehicles beyond customer concerns to ensure there are no safety repairs needed. Identify additional observations and communicate with the manager to devise a plan.
- Road test vehicles and test drive them for obvious functional issues.
- Document all repairs made.
- Stay up to date on new vehicle information and learn additional features as needed.
- Keep all customer cars clean and safe.
- Maintain an organized and professional shop area, including owning accountability for all company tools and equipment.
- Manage tool organization and storage. Communicate any safety issues to supervisors.
· Maintain ASE Certification that needs to be renewed every five years. Technicians must stay updated on the latest automotive technologies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Pay: $36.00 - $38.00 per hour
