Substitute Teachers play a critical role in ensuring continuity in the classroom by maintaining structure, supporting students, and following instructional plans in the absence of the regular teacher.

What You’ll Do as a Substitute Teacher

Follow lesson plans and guide students through daily instruction

Maintain a structured, respectful, and productive classroom environment

Manage student behavior and keep students engaged

Supervise students during transitions, lunch, or recess as needed

Communicate effectively with school staff regarding student behavior or concerns
For long-term assignments, you may also take on additional responsibilities such as lesson planning and deeper classroom support.
What You Need

Minimum of 60 college credit hours or an Associate’s Degree

At least 1 year of child care, tutoring, or related experience preferred

Strong communication and classroom management skills
