Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) – Rural Behavioral Health
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or an individual who is nearing LMSW licensure, to join our growing behavioral health team serving the Abbeville and Delcambre communities. This position is based in a Rural Health Clinic where behavioral health is integrated with primary care to provide accessible, high-quality services for patients of all ages.
The ideal candidate is passionate about serving rural populations and helping individuals and families overcome barriers to better mental health and overall wellness.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and mental health screenings to identify patient needs and develop appropriate treatment recommendations.
- Provide individual, family, and group counseling services utilizing evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, behavioral interventions, and other therapeutic modalities.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that align with clinical best practices and support positive patient outcomes.
- Provide behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, substance use disorders, and other mental health concerns.
- Collaborate with primary care providers and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver integrated, whole-person care within a Rural Health Clinic setting.
- Assist with care coordination, case management, referrals, and transitions of care to ensure continuity of services and access to community resources.
- Provide crisis intervention and support for patients experiencing acute behavioral health needs.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation within electronic medical record (EMR) systems while adhering to HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, clinical supervision, and training opportunities to remain current with behavioral health best practices, documentation standards, and healthcare regulations.
Requirements
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Louisiana or actively working toward licensure and eligible soon
- Proven experience in clinical counseling within hospital settings or outpatient clinics; experience in hospice or senior care is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of mental health counseling techniques such as behavioral therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), crisis management, and working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders.
- Familiarity with medical documentation standards, ICD coding systems, EMR systems, HIPAA compliance, and medical terminology.
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including intake procedures and diagnostic evaluations across diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with complex mental health needs.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and community resources; experience working with children or in special education is a plus.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
