Job Summary
This role will serve as the primary safety and compliance lead for a fleet of approximately 400 vehicles and trailers . The position will work closely with Safety, Operations, Procurement, Finance, Insurance, and Branch Leadership to ensure vehicles and trailers are properly selected, purchased, insured, maintained, operated, and used in accordance with company expectations and applicable regulatory requirements.
This is a hybrid position involving remote work, office work, branch visits, field support, and periodic travel to company and customer locations. Travel is expected throughout the United States and Canada. The role may require walking through shops, yards, customer sites, and field work locations where personal protective equipment may be required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead fleet safety and compliance programs for approximately 400 vehicles and trailers across the U.S. and Canada, serving as the primary fleet safety resource.
- Develop and maintain fleet safety policies, driver standards, towing procedures, vehicle-use expectations, and DOT/FMCSA compliance programs.
- Evaluate vehicle and trailer operations, purchases, and specifications to ensure operational suitability, regulatory compliance, insurance requirements, and risk management.
- Investigate vehicle incidents, claims, and near misses; conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Analyze telematics, MVRs, inspections, claims, and safety data to identify trends, reduce risk, and improve fleet performance.
- Conduct branch visits, audits, inspections, and training while coaching leaders and drivers to promote a proactive safety culture and regulatory compliance.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in fleet safety, transportation safety, EHS, risk management, or related operations.
- Experience managing or supporting multi-location fleet safety and compliance programs.
- Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, driver qualifications, vehicle inspections, hours-of-service considerations, and commercial vehicle requirements.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
Understanding of vehicle/trailer combinations, towing safety, GVWR/GCWR requirements, load securement, and fleet risk controls.

Preferred Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Transportation, Logistics, Risk Management, Business, or a related field.
- Experience supporting fleets of 250+ vehicles and trailers.
- Experience with service vehicles, trailers, crane bodies, utility bodies, liftgates, or equipment transport operations.
- Experience with telematics, MVR monitoring, DOT audits, driver qualification files, and fleet claims management.
- Experience supporting fleet procurement, replacement planning, and vehicle/trailer standardization initiatives.
- OSHA 30 and/or professional safety credentials such as ASP, CSP, CHST, CDS, CDT, or CSM preferred.
