Service First Permits is a nationally recognized construction permit management and expediting firm based in Denver, with additional operations in California. Since 2009, we've managed 700+ construction projects annually across 50+ jurisdictions nationwide. Clients include local and national general contractors, architects, designers, developers, business owners. Our team of Project Managers works to streamline the complex construction permitting process.
We're looking for an experienced and organized Project Manager, familiar with the Construction industry, to join our growing team and help coordinate the permitting process for our diverse portfolio of commercial and residential construction projects.
THE ROLE
As a Project Manager at Service First Permits, you will be expected to manage multiple projects of various scopes and in a variety of jurisdictions. Responsibilities include an assessment of every submittal and application to ensure that the format and content is correct, deadlines are met, and all public and private sector stakeholders are informed. Our newest Project Manager will work directly with our CEO / Founder and our experienced team of Project Managers, overseeing complex permitting submittals while maintaining clear communication with clients, architects, contractors, and municipal agencies.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination: Manage and track multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are complete
- Submittals & Documentation: Review construction documents and permit submissions for accuracy, completeness, and jurisdictional compliance; coordinate with design teams and contractors on submittal requirements
- Client Communication: Serve as primary point of contact for project status updates; maintain clear, professional communication with clients, architects, contractors, and city reviewers
- Internal Collaboration: Participate in daily standups, weekly team meetings, and strategy sessions; support senior project managers with complex submissions and multi-jurisdictional coordination
- Administrative Management: Track project timelines, maintain detailed records, manage permit fees and documentation, coordinate inspections and approvals
- System Proficiency: Work across multiple software platforms (Bluebeam, Smartsheets, Quickbase, HubSpot) to track project progress, manage documentation, and report on status
Communication Requirements:
- You'll be on-camera for all client calls and internal meetings – professionalism and clear communication are essential
- Comfortable speaking with clients, city officials, and colleagues
- Strong written communication skills for emails and project updates
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required:
- Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency – Strong skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Detail-Oriented & Organized – Catch errors before they become problems; thrive managing multiple complex projects with competing deadlines
- Thorough & Methodical – Understand that completeness is important to success
- Professional Communication – Clear, professional demeanor on camera, phone, and email
- Ability to Learn – Willingness to master new software platforms and construction / permitting concepts quickly
- Full-Time Commitment – 40 hours / week, hybrid schedule (see below)
Preferred (But Will Train!):
- Construction industry experience or familiarity with building codes and permitting processes
- Experience with Bluebeam, Smartsheets, Quickbase, or similar project management tools
- Background working with architects, contractors, or developers
Ideal Candidate Profile:
All applicants should be organized, reliable, and detail oriented. Take pride in your work and understand that accuracy matters. Clear communication and an ability to prioritize your project workload for clients and local AHJs. Proactive engagement with SFP Leadership and Project Manager teammates is critical to success in the position. Applicants must be professional but personable and comfortable interacting with clients and municipal reviewers alike. WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE
Location: Denver, CO (Downtown Denver office)
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours / week
Hybrid Model:
- 3 days in-office (Tuesday – Thursday): Required at our downtown Denver location
- 2 days remote (Monday & Friday): Work from home
- Note: Employees are welcome to work in-office five days a week if they prefer
Culture: Business casual work environment. You'll work directly with a veteran team of Permit Managers who value collaboration, clear communication, and continuous learning.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary: $65,000 - $72,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
Bonus / Other Compensation: Year-end discretionary bonus opportunity based on Company and individual performance.
