Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our healthcare team in providing exceptional resident care within a Skilled Nursing Facility.
This leadership role requires a strong background in nursing administration, supervision, and clinical expertise, particularly in settings such as skilled nursing, behavioral health, assisted living, home health, hospice care, and acute care.
The ADON will support nursing management in overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and maintaining high standards of patient care.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent management skills, proficiency with EMR/EHR systems, and a thorough understanding of medical terminology, care planning, and regulatory requirements including Medicare and HIPAA.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing in managing daily nursing operations and staff supervision
- Oversee resident care plans, ensuring they meet individual needs and regulatory standards
- Supervise nursing staff, including shift management and performance evaluations
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive resident care
- Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations related to Medicare, Medicaid, and other healthcare programs
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems for documentation review, resident data management, and reporting
- Provide leadership in emergency situations and support nurse management activities
- Educate staff on best practices related to physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and care procedures
- Support the implementation of quality improvement initiatives and compliance audits
Requirements
- Proven experience in behavioral health, skilled nursing, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home health, hospice care, or acute care settings
- Supervising or nurse management experience with demonstrated leadership skills
- Knowledge of residents, MDS processes, and care plan development
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical records documentation review
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and Medicare guidelines
- Ability to manage shift operations effectively while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care
- Excellent communication skills for team leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Current RN license with active state licensure required; additional certifications preferred (e.g., CPR)
- Current fingerprint clearance card
- Current BLS/CPR certification
