Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (MS RN) to provide safe, compassionate, and comprehensive care to adult patients in a busy medical-surgical unit.
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience and previous travel nursing experience is required. Experience with postoperative patients and common medical-surgical conditions is highly valuable for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients.
- Perform head-to-toe assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition.
- Care for patients recovering from a variety of surgical procedures.
- Manage postoperative patients and monitor for complications.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to physician orders.
- Manage and monitor patients with IV pumps, NG tubes, and feeding tubes.
- Provide wound care and postoperative care as needed.
- Monitor pain levels and provide appropriate interventions.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Accurately document patient care and clinical information in EPIC.
- Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and emergencies.
- Maintain patient safety and follow infection-control and hospital policies.
- Float to other appropriate units as required.

The unit commonly cares for adult patients with:
- Post-surgical conditions
- Abdominal pain
- Cholelithiasis / Gallstones
- Osteoarthritis
- Fractures
- Back pain
- Morbid obesity
- Bariatric surgery patients
Specialty Equipment
Experience with:
- IV Pumps
- NG (Nasogastric) Tubes
- Feeding Tubes
Requirements
- 2+ years of Medical-Surgical RN experience
- Travel nursing experience required
- EPIC experience required
- Strong adult patient-care experience
- Ability to provide postoperative and medical-surgical nursing care
- Ability to float as required
Required Certification
- Current AHA BLS – Required

- Nursys license verification report
- Active New York RN license
- Verification of all active RN licenses
- Current BLS certification
- RTO (Requested Time Off) must be included at the time of submission

Local/Travel Rule: Candidates living less than 75 miles from the facility are accepted and will receive the applicable local rate.
Pay: $65.00 - $67.00 per hour
