Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fabricator Shop Lead to oversee our fabrication operations and ensure the delivery of high-quality metalwork projects. This leadership role involves supervising fabrication activities, coordinating with team members, and maintaining safety and quality standards across all shop functions. Duties
- Lead and supervise daily fabrication shop operations, ensuring projects meet quality standards and deadlines.
- Oversee the interpretation of blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to facilitate accurate fabrication.
- Coordinate with project managers and clients to clarify specifications and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ASME codes & standards during fabrication processes.
- Manage the use of hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
- Supervise welding activities including MIG, TIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and <LOCATION> welding techniques.
- Conduct inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Oversee rigging, pipe threading, ductwork assembly, sheet metal work, and mechanical assembly tasks.
- Maintain inventory of materials such as sheet metal and components required for fabrication projects.
- Enforce safety protocols related to construction site practices, crane operation, forklift handling, machining, and plasma cutting.
- Provide mentorship to team members to enhance skills in welding, machining, schematics reading, and fabrication techniques.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to uphold strict adherence to specifications and standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction site environments with a strong background in metal fabrication.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, FCAW welding processes
- Skilled in blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with machining operations including press brake machines and plasma cutters.
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards applicable to manufacturing and fabrication industries.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, rigging equipment, and pipe threading tools safely.
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing ductwork installation, pipe assembly, soldering techniques, and schematics comprehension.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in measurements using calipers or micrometers.
- Basic math skills for measurements calculations and project estimations.
- Leadership qualities with experience supervising teams in a manufacturing or construction setting.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating across departments and ensuring safety compliance. Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
