Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Marine Mechanic to join our dynamic team dedicated to maintaining and repairing water transportation equipment. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of marine systems and machinery to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient vessel operations. Duties
- Perform comprehensive inspections, maintenance, and repairs on marine engines, propulsion systems, and auxiliary equipment using schematics and technical manuals.
- Diagnose electrical issues utilizing electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters, multimeters, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Conduct mechanical systems repair including rigging, fabrication, welding, sheet metal work, and assembly of marine components.
- Maintain ship electrical systems by troubleshooting wiring diagrams, replacing faulty wiring or components, and ensuring compliance with safety standards through proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, calipers, soldering equipment, and heavy lifting techniques to execute repairs efficiently and safely.
- Perform water transportation equipment maintenance including diesel mechanics tasks such as engine overhauls, fuel system repairs, and water pump servicing.
- Support maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) activities by ensuring all work adheres to safety protocols and quality standards while providing excellent customer service to vessel operators.
Qualifications
- Proven service technician experience with a strong background in marine or heavy vehicle maintenance.
- Knowledge of schematics, electrical systems maintenance on ships or similar watercraft.
- Military experience in technical roles is highly desirable due to exposure to rigorous troubleshooting procedures.
- Electrical experience including diagnostics, wiring repairs, and system troubleshooting.
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing diesel mechanics, mechanical systems repair, fabrication skills including welding and sheet metal work.
- Familiarity with rigging techniques and assembly processes relevant to marine environments.
- Experience with ship electrical systems maintenance using tools like ohmmeters and multimeters for precise diagnostics.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, calipers, soldering equipment safely while performing heavy lifting as needed.
- Strong customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Knowledge of safety protocols including PPE use during all maintenance activities.
